Matrak Mobile: Offline photo support w/ taking photos improvements

Written by William Chang
Updated today

This update improves photo capture and QA workflows in the Matrak Mobile App, especially on sites with poor or unstable reception.

You can now:

  • Capture multiple photos in one session

  • Mark up photos (draw, circle, arrows, and text)

  • Keep working with full offline photo support, then sync automatically when back online

  • Enforce Hold Points and required photo rules while offline

  • Review upload history and retry failed uploads

These improvements help teams record defects faster, complete QA tasks on-site, and stay confident that photos and status changes will sync correctly.

What’s new

1) Take multiple photos in sequence

  • Capture several photos back-to-back without waiting for each upload

  • Tap Next to review all photos together

  • Delete, rotate, or mark up photos before confirming

2) Mark up photos (draw, circle, arrows, text)

You can annotate photos directly in Matrak:

  • Draw on the image

  • Circle problem areas

  • Add arrows

  • Add text notes

Marked up photos are visible in both the Mobile App and the Web App.

3) Reliable offline photo capture + automatic sync

When offline or in flaky connectivity:

  • Photos still attach to the correct record

  • Hold Points validate locally

  • QA updates can be completed offline

  • Everything syncs automatically when you reconnect

4) Photo upload history and retry

Go to More → Photos to:

  • View upload history

  • See failed uploads

  • Retry failed uploads

  • Confirm what has synced

If Photo Backup is enabled:

  • Failed uploads are saved to a device album

  • The album name is the Record ID

5) Workflow rules supported offline

Hold Points, required photo validations, and status changes are supported offline.

Matrak reconciles changes correctly once you are back online.
